Comparing and contrasting are vital skills in mathematics. To help your toddler with these skills early on, you can try various sorting activities. For example, they probably have stuffed animals around the house. Ask them if they can separate animals based on shape or type of animal.
Such a simple task will get your toddler used to analyzing things and making assumptions. It may seem like a fun game to them, but you're actually getting them ready for the early stages of math. Keep trying different sorting activities until they can complete them with ease.
